About Me!

Hello! I am Minal Chhabra.

I am currently doing my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Somnath Bharadwaj as a Prime Minister Research Fellow at the Department of Physics, IIT Kharagpur.

In my research, I attempt to understand the formation and evolution of the first sources of light that occurred in the universe. I also want to understand the impact of these new stars and galaxies on the transformation of the universe as a whole. The fundamental questions I address are;

1. How do first stars and galaxies form?

2. How do they impact the thermal and ionization state of the universe?

3. How does the reionization influence the further assembly of new sources?

4. How is the nature of structure at higher redshifts different from the local universe?

Apart from research, I am an obsessive stargazer and an amateur astrophotographer. I also read many novels, mostly thrillers, mystery, sci-fi, and fantasy. I am a big fan of science fiction shows and intergalactic travel ideas.

(I insanely wish to pull a 'Captain Kirk' sometime!)
